Permission is Required before members of the Public can put up Posters Publicising Events in the City

Cork City Council would like to remind members of the public that written permission is required before members of the public or organisations can erect temporary posters in the city advertising meetings or events.

The protocol, established under Section 19 of the Litter Pollution Acts 1997 to 2002, is in place  to control the number of posters erected across the city and sets out the dos and don’ts and safety guidelines to be followed when putting up posters.

Posters or notices promoting commercial events are prohibited.

Cork City Council Poster Protocol

Written permission  in advance of the erection of posters, must be received from Cork City Council.  Unauthorised posters are liable to fines under the Litter Pollution Act 1997.
