Lord Mayor's Charity Ball launched at Cork City Hall

A night of old school glamour is promised at the 2018 Lord Mayor’s Charity Ball which will take place at Cork City Hall over the St Patrick’s Weekend Festival. The event was launched on Thursday January 18th.

Lord Mayor, Cllr Tony Fitzgerald has chosen ‘Oiche ag na Scannáin’ (Night at the Movies) as the theme for this year’s glitzy event .His daughters, Michelle and Deborah, along with the Lady Mayoress,  have taken a lead role in organising this annual highlight of the Cork social calendar, even designing the invitations themselves.

The Lord Mayor said: “During my mayoral year, I have been hugely impressed by the many charities and voluntary organisations in our city . It is important more than ever to support these charities who make such a difference to people’s lives. And what better way to do this than with a night of vintage glamour and  some classic movie scores”?”

Proceeds from the Lord Mayor’s Charity Ball will we go to Down Syndrome Ireland & The Down Syndrome Centre, Enable Ireland, Mercy Hospital Cork and Cork University Hospital.

The Lord Mayor’s Charity Ball will take place on Sunday March 18 at the Concert Hall during the city’s St Patrick’s Festival. The 2018 parade theme is ‘Democracy for All – 100 Years of The Vote for Women’.
