Women's Rugby World Cup set to go on show in Cork City


Emmett Place in Cork City Centre is the place to be on the 26th July to get up close to the Women’s Rugby World Cup Trophy, test your rugby kicking skills and get a quick selfie with Ireland’s Women’s Rugby World Cup Ambassador and former Ireland Captain Fiona Coghlan.

Cork City Council and the IRFU will bring the trophy to the City to mark the countdown to the Women’s Rugby World Cup, which takes place in Dublin and Belfast from 9th to the 26th of August. 

The event, which runs from 12pm to 2pm, will be one of the largest of the 274 held since the trophy stated a tour of all 32 counties.

Tickets for the semi-finals and finals stages of the Women’s Rugby World Cup, to take place in Belfast on the 22nd and 26th August, are available from  Pool stage tickets are now completely sold-out.

Women’s Rugby World Cup Tournament Director, Garrett Tubridy, said,

“We are delighted that Cork City Council have invited the Women’s Rugby World Cup trophy tour to Emmett Place so that the people of Cork can get up close to the biggest prize in women’s rugby.  The trophy has travelled over 15,000 km so far and we know the event in Cork will be one of the highlights of the tour.

We will have a fun kicking game set up on the day and former Ireland Women’s Captain, Fiona Coghlan, on hand to help us thank the people of Cork for getting behind the tournament and their Irish team.”
