Cork City Centre April Events

A monthly newsletter updating the people of Cork about the events and activities happening in our wonderful city centre. There are several great festivals taking place in the city this month with events to suit a variety of tastes and interests:

Lifelong learning Festival
The 14th Cork Lifelong learning Festival take place on April 3rd to April 9th with over 600 free events. The festival’s motto is Investigate – Participate – Celebrate!

Cork Whiskey Festival
To celebrate whiskeys from Ireland and across the world, Festival Cork will be working alongside some of the cities best known bars and restaurants on April 3rd – 9th to bring tastings, talks, tours and treats.

Cork International Choral Festival
Every year Cork International Choral Festival brings the city to life with song with over 5500 voices coming from all over the world. This year it takes place from April 26th to 30th with gala concerts, national and international competitions and world class performances.

World Book Fest
Year on Year the festival has featured an eclectic mix of books of all types – poetry and prose, fiction and nonfiction, travel and memoirs, comedy and cookery. 2017 will not disappoint with tours, book clubs, a full day of teen events and readings by poets and writers both local and international.

3rd Defibrillator installed in City Centre
Well done to Cork Lions Club on installing its third 24hr publicly accessible defibrillator in the city centre. This is located on the Savoy Centre on St. Patricks Street.  Cork Lions Club hope to install up to nine more around the city centre in due course and if any business would like to get involved please contact AED@corklionsclub.ie For more information see here.

 
Looking Closer Competition
Throughout the month of April there is a ‘Looking Closer’ competition running which will encourage people to look for different features around the city centre. Thanks to the Cornstore restaurant for kindly supplying the prize. Entry forms will be circulated around the city or can be downloaded here.
