The Joys of June in Cork City Centre

Cork city centre is the onlyplace to be this coming June. With a host of exciting events, it will truly be fun for all the family. There is an event for every taste, from foodies to adrenaline junkies, and you’re guaranteed to find an experience just for you. These events include a variety of races, ranging from soapboxes to dragon boats to the tenth Cork City Marathon on June 6th. Another exciting addition this year is the first Soul in the City Festival featuring the best of soul music and soul food, taking place in our very own Victorian Quarter, June 4th & 5th – in MacCurtain Street and surrounding area. Meanwhile, Cork City Hall will be transformed into a foodie’s heaven on June 26th & 27th, welcoming the Cork and Kerry Food Forum at the end of June, featuring tastings and demonstrations from over seventy artisan food producers.  The Shandon Street Festival taking place on June 18th guarantees a vibrant carnival atmosphere, with entertainment to suit all ages.

Of course, we also have two more outstanding festivals taking place right here in the city centre. Firstly, the Cork Harbour Festival, taking place June 4th-12th, is a celebration of Ireland’s unique maritime heritage and culture, and features dozens of fantastic events for both landlubbers and seafarers.  The fantastic Midsummer Festival also returns in the second half of June with a jam-packed programme of unmissable shows, events and experiences.  These include performances from a diverse range of visiting artists and home grown talent.

There is something for everyone this June so come and enjoy the unique experience that is Cork city centre’ said Paul Mc Guirk, Cork City Council. ‘From races to music festivals and food forums, there is an unforgettable experience waiting for everyone in Cork city centre this June.
