Cork City council is delighted to have been nominated for two awards in the eGovernment awards today -

The Ireland eGovernment Awards, in association with Eir Business, recognise the innovators and forward thinkers who are pioneering changes and helping deliver better online services for Irish citizens today. The awards are Ireland’s most sought-after accolades in Irish eGovernment, honouring the leaders driving digital services, communication and democracy online. The awards are open to state agencies, local authorities and public sector departments, and to private sector companies who partner on eGovernment projects. Entry is free of charge and close at midnight 20 November 2015. Following a rigorous adjudication process by our judges, the winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony on 29 January 2016 in Dublin Castle.

The categories Cork City Council have been nominated in are

  1. 1.      Innovation Award – Cork City Councils Litter Fines Project
  2. Mobile Award – Cork City Councils Choice Based Letting Scheme

Litter Fines Project
Under the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system being introduced in Cork City Council, the Environment Directorate identified its litter fine system as an ideal candidate for replacing Litter Wardens triplicate docket books with mobile tablet devices. The new litter fine system replaces the legacy access based litter fine system. The new litter fine system facilitates the preparation of flexible management reports and allows for the recording of all litter fine related information including litter evidence and photographs.

Choice Based Letting Scheme
The Choice Based Letting Scheme (CBL) is a new  online scheme introduced by Cork City Councils Housing and Community Directorate. The website is available at to people on Cork City Councils housing allocations list.

Dwellings are advertised on a weekly basis from 9 a.m. Wednesdays to 5 p.m. Tuesdays.  Tenants will need to log in every week to check the dwellings for that week and if you wish to place an expression of interest, you will need to do so by 5 p.m.  The Tuesday of that week.  It is advised that you give yourself plenty of time and not leave it to the last day.

The Choice Based Letting scheme works on the basis that future available selected housing stock nominated as ‘bid dwellings’ will be advertised on a dedicated website and applicants will be asked to submit an expression of interest on a ‘bid dwelling’ for which they are qualified to apply.
