Cork City Library wins Best Local Authority Library Service
Public Sector Magazine, the main periodical covering public service issues in Ireland, has selected Cork City Libraries as outright winner for Best Local Authority Library Service, for 2014. The award was based on
- the quality and range of services provided each week through the seven City Council library service points in Cork city;
- programmes such as the ‘IT Seems History is to Blame’ programme focusing on the events of 1913-1923 and the lessons we can learn, the Cork World Book Fest each April, Heritage Week and Children’s Book Fest annual programmes;
- the numerous other special and recurring events serving citizens of all ages; and
- the excellence of online services on the City Libraries’ two websites, www.corkpastandpresent.ie and www.corkcitylibraries.ie.
Cork City Libraries will be the focus of a special feature in the next edition of the quarterly Public Sector Magazine.
