Cork City Library wins Best Local Authority Library Service

‌Public Sector Magazine
, the main periodical covering public service issues in Ireland, has selected Cork City Libraries as outright winner for Best Local Authority Library Service, for 2014. The award was based on

  • the quality and range of services provided each week through the seven City Council library service points in Cork city;
  • programmes such as the ‘IT Seems History is to Blame’ programme focusing on the events of 1913-1923 and the lessons we can learn, the Cork World Book Fest each April, Heritage Week and Children’s Book Fest annual programmes;
  • the numerous other special and recurring events serving citizens of all ages; and
  • the excellence of online services on the City Libraries’ two websites, and

Cork City Libraries will be the focus of a special feature in the next edition of the quarterly Public Sector Magazine.
