20,000 plus turned out for the opening weekend of A Cork Christmas Celebration, up on last year’s opening weekend. The same and more is expected for this weekend as festivities gather momentum with the opening of the markets first Gluhwein Bar and live cooking demonstrations taking place on stage. The market is open from 10am-8pm, today (6th December) until Sunday.
Some of this weekend’s highlights include the Focus Ireland choir who will be singing from 10am-12pm on Saturday, followed by the Surgeon Noonan singers, who will be onstage from 1pm-2pm both Saturday and Sunday, and Scoil Aisling will be performing from 3pm-5pm on Sunday in aid of the COPE Foundation. Theatre of Food will be running on stage across the weekend so you can pick up some handy Christmas cooking tips while browsing the market and sipping gluhwein. Chefs involved will include Brendan Cashman from Augustine’s and Kevin Aherne from Sage in Midleton.
This year, for the first time, the market has a dedicated Gluhwein Bar which will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from now until Christmas.
