CORK CITY COUNCIL HOLDS NATIONAL DAY OF COMMEMORATION CEREMONY


The National Day of Commemoration Ceremony, to honour all those Irishmen and Irishwomen who died in past wars or on service with the United Nations, washeld this year on Sunday, 8th July at Fitzgerald’s Park, Cork. The ceremony commenced at 11.00 a.m.

This is the second year that Cork City Council has hosted the ceremony which was open to members of the public to attend. Attending the ceremony were be The Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. John Buttimer, local public representatives, Members of the Defence Forces and Religious leaders.

Ceremonies also took place simultaneously in Dublin, Limerick, Waterford, Galway, Kilkenny and Sligo. The ceremony in Dublin took place in the National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks and was televised live on RTE TV.
