Family Fun Day on Easter Saturday at the Coal Quay Market, Cornmarket Street

The Coal Quay Market, on Cornmarket Street, Cork, hosted a Family Fun Day on Easter Saturday, 7th April 2012, from 9am to 3pm.

The Family Fun Day was organised by the Coal Quay Food Market in conjunction with Cork City Council and along with the usual wide variety of local stalls and producers, there was  street entertainment, music, free face painting, clowns, food tastings, and an Easter Egg Hunt at the food stalls.

Street trading has taken place on the Coal Quay at Cornmarket Street for generations, and the recent completion of a €4 million redevelopment of Cornmarket Street by Cork City Council has provided traders with a pedestrian-friendly streetscape, revamped stalls for traditional traders, street benches, trees, and dedicated market trading areas.

The Family Fun Day is just one of a series of events planned for the Coal Quay Market in the coming months, to celebrate the return of the market to Cornmarket Street, following completion of the streetscape renewal project.
