 Three Cork City groups win three awards at the recent All Island Pride of Place Awards ceremony held in Gorey.

  • Togher Community Association won first place in the category Community Enhancement Project.
  • Cork Gay Project and LinC joined forces to be runners up in their category.
  • The Meelagh community were also runners up in their category.

The Pride of Place Awards are an all Ireland All Island initiative that recognises the work being carried out by community groups throughout the country north and south.

Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Tony Fitzgerald who attended the awards  said that he was delighted to be at the event
“which recognised the significant contribution of the community and voluntary sector.  That three Cork groups have received national recognition for their efforts reflects the strength of the sector in Cork City”.

Two other groups Niche and the Glen Resource Centre were also nominated for an award but were unsuccessful on this occasion.
