“In Garrett Fitzgerald’s passing the country has lost one of its statesmen of truly international stature. His influence on the first tentative steps to what has now come to pass in the peace process and his championing of a pluralist and inclusive society has been one of the most enduring legacies of the past century in Irish politics.”
