National Accessibility Week

On the 3rd December each year International Day of People with Disability is celebrated worldwide recognising the achievements and contributions of people with disability.

The Local Authority National Accessibility Week 29th November to 3rd December 2010 has been organised to coincide with this international day of People with Disability.

This year the Local Authority National Accessibility Week has been designed with a particular focus on illegal and inconsiderate parking, poor parking behaviour and the difficulty that is caused by parking on footpaths, blocking entrances etc.  The theme of the week is ‘Park Right’.

The week is being co-ordinated by the Local Authority Access Officer Network under the aegis of the LGMSB Disability Steering Committee and is supported by Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government.

Posters have been placed in  public areas throughout Cork City including libraries, Garda Stations, Car Parks and distributed to organizations dealing with people with a disability.

Further Information can be obtained from the Access Officer  Ph 4924037 or email accessofficer@corkcity.ie
