Launch of eCars Charge Points in Cork

Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr.Michael O'Connell, welcomed eCars and all their guests for the launch of the first Charge Point for electric vehicles on the South Mall in Cork. Charge Points are also located at the Lower Glanmire Road, and the CIT campus.

Cork City Council supports the introduction of electric vehicles, (EVs). The use of EVs will contribute to a reduction carbon emissions with improved energy efficiency particularly in urban areas.

The Traffic Division of Cork City Council has proposed the use of EVs within the city council’s own vehicle fleet and on the GoCar Sharing service. These proposed measures are in addition to a whole series of proposed initiatives to persuade up to 10% of single occupancy car drivers to change to more sustainable modes of travel for some or all of their trips in the Metropolitan Cork area.

Cork City Council supports to the provision of infrastructure for Charge Points and more widespread use of EVs in Cork.
