Lord Mayor’s Send-off for Community Games Children
The Lord Mayor, Councillor Michael O'Connell, gave a rousing send off for children from Cork participating as the Cork Community Games Team before their trip to Athlone for the National Finals.
Every year thousands of children from all over Ireland travel to the National Finals. Previously, the Community Games Finals were held in Mosney, County Meath. However, 2009 saw a change of venue and Athlone Institute of Technology was selected as the new home for the Finals. The Games were held there between 13 August 2010 - 15 August 2010.
