Cork prepares for the return of its footballers after All-Ireland Football Finals

Cork City Council  is preparing for the homecoming of its Senior and Minor football teams tonight after yesterday's historic All Ireland victory for the Senior Team and the close-fought Minor Final where the Cork team missed out by the narrowest of margins.

A purpose- built stage will be erected and the proceedings will be relayed to giant screens on Parnell Place and the South Mall. A line-up of entertainment is in place in advance of the arrival of both teams. From 6.30 p.m. onwards there will be a festival atmosphere as rapper GMC and Red FM DJs prepare the crowd. Michelle Fitzgerald will then sing until the anticipated arrival of the teams at 7.30 p.m.

Cork’s own Billa O’Connell will act as Master of Ceremonies and the evening will end with a rousing rendition of “The Banks“ from the incomparable Seán Ó Sé.

The event will be streamed live on the Irish Examiner and Cork City Council websites.

Traffic restrictions will be in place from mid afternoon onwards. Full details are available by clicking on the link below.

Wheelchair users wll be accomodated in a VIP area immediately ajacent to the stage. Access to this area will be from the north end of Parnell Place.
