Lord Mayor opens Book of Condolences for volunteers killed in Israeli storming of Aid vessel

The Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Dara Murphy today (Tuesday June 1st 2010) opened a Book of Condolences for the aid workers who lost their lives when Israeli forces boarded a ship which was part of a flotilla bringing humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Speaking at the opening of the Book of Condolences the Lord Mayor stated:

“I am greatly concerned at the loss of life in this operation which occurred in international waters. I extend my condolences to the families of the bereaved and call on Israel to provide the international community with the full facts of the operation before commenting further on the matter.”

The Book of Condolences will be available for signing in Cork City Hall offices from 10.00 a.m. Tuesday June 1st and will remain open until Friday June 11th.
