On Tuesday April 27th 2010 at 5.30 p.m. in the Lord Mayor’s Chamber, City Hall Cork the Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Dara Murphy  officially launched the Lord Mayor’s Midsummer Charities Gala Ball 2010 which will take place on Saturday 19th June 2010  in the Concert Hall, City Hall, Cork

Speaking at the launch the Lord Mayor paid tribute to the generosity of Cork’s business community and urged them to give this initiative their full support, and was pleased to announce that Bord Gais has kindly agreed to be the primary Corporate sponsor of the event. Additional sponsors announced on the evening included Thomas Crosbie Holdings, Brown Thomas, O’ Callaghan Properties and Heineken with others expected to be announced in the coming days.

 “The event promises to be one of the highlights in the city’s social calendar and it will provide an ideal opportunity to entertain friends, colleagues and clients in the historic setting of the Concert Hall.” said Cllr. Murphy.

CEO of Bord Gàis John Mullins said the Ball would give people the opportunity to help charities in a positive way. “Following on from the fantastic Volunteer Week after Easter, this is another opportunity to show the positive side of Cork City and how the businesses and other communities in the region can help out in even the toughest economic times. As a Cork-based company we see it as part of our remit to support these fantastic initiatives,” he added. 

The Lord Mayor’s Midsummer Charities Gala Ball 2010 is organised differently this year so as to enable a broad range of Charities/Voluntary Organisations to benefit from the full ticket price for each ticket that is sold by the Charity/Voluntary Organisation.  The Lord Mayor also extended an invitation to Cork Charities and Voluntary Organisations to participate in the Lord Mayor’s Midsummer Charities Gala Ball. Tickets may be purchased at  €1500 per table of ten  or individually at €150 per seat.
