The Lord Mayor of Cork's Volunteer Fair


As part of Cork Volunteer Week, The Lord Mayor's Volunteer Fair will take in the Concert Hall and Millennium Hall, City Hall, from Friday 9th April to Sunday 11th April 2010.  The aim of Volunteer Week, sponsored by Bord Gáis Energy and Cork City Council is to acknowledge the tremendous contribution volunteers make to our community and to facilitate voluntary and community groups to recruit a new generation of volunteers.

Details on Fair opening times are as follows: -

Friday 9th April, 2010               7.00p.m.-9.00p.m.

Saturday 10th April, 2010         10.00a.m.-4.00p.m.

Sunday 11th April, 2010           10.00a.m.-4.00 p.m.


The fair is open to the general public and is free of charge.  Representatives from over 180 voluntary and community groups will provide details on volunteering opportunities.  Groups participating in the fair include The Garda Reserve, Dogs for the Disabled, Macra na Feirme, Cork Academy of Music, Kinsale Arts Week and many more. 

People of all ages are encouraged to visit the fair.  Entertainment, including face-painting will be provided at the event, as well as the opportunity to win a raffle prize. Many more exciting events will take place over the course of the fair.

In the setting of the Lord Mayor’s Chambers, attenendees can don the Lord Mayor’s robes and chain of office and have the momentous occasion captured in colour.   A nominal fee is charged for this opportunity, with the proceeds going to the Lord Mayor’s Charity Fund. This initiative is facilitated by Cork Lions Club.
