Cheeky Cherubs celebrate Excellence Award

At the All-Ireland Centre of Excellence Awards held on Saturday, 6th February 2010, ‘Cheeky Cherubs, Early Years School’, Cork City Council received The National Children’s Nurseries Association (NCNA) and Early Years, All-Ireland Centre of Excellence Award at the Hilton Hotel, Dublin. The prestigious Award was presented by the Minister for Children & Youth Affairs, Mr. Barry Andrews TD.  

Fifteen childcare facilities attended the Awards Ceremony from all over Ireland. This accolade was all the more special to Cheeky Cherubs as it was the only Munster Early Years School chosen.  

City Manager, Joe Gavin said “I am delighted that the workplace crèche provided by Cork City Council at City Hall has achieved an All-Ireland Centre of Excellence Award.  I would like to compliment the staff of Cheeky Cherubs for reaching such high standards and for creating a fine environment for the children in their care.”   

This Award was obtained through the commitment and teamwork of teachers, management, families and Cork City Council. The staff of Cheeky Cherubs is made up of highly qualified and motivated individuals, who approach their work in a child-centred way, creating a wonderful atmosphere in which the children can grow and learn. The team is delighted with the recognition this Award brings. “It’s a great achievement and we are very proud” said Directors Sarah O’Leary and Michele Akerlind “and we would like to thank our Manager Triona O’Connor for her dedication and also Grace, Sara, Karen, Gosia and Pamela for their consistent hard work and enthusiasm.”
 
Cork City Council has provided the first workplace crèche in Cork. This has been an extremely successful partnership and is a huge benefit to the families of Cork City Council.
