Elizabeth Fort opens for Cork Heritage Open Day

was built in 1601 to protect the medieval walled city. Under the care of the Office of Public Works the site is highly significant in relation to the military and social history of Cork.  It boasts an exceptional view of the city from the ramparts and from the recently constructed timber viewing gallery along the north side of the courtyard.

 

As part of Cork Heritage Open Day, the Fort will be open for Cork Heritage Open Day on Saturday the 29th of August from10am to 5pm (Last entry 4.30pm)
