Lord Mayor Cllr. Donal Counihan presents a tree grove to Na Piarsaigh H & F Club

Lord Mayor Cllr. Donal Counihan presented a tree grove to Na Piarsaigh Hurling and Football Club on 11th December 2007.  The Club will receive six hundred trees for an embankment on their grounds as part of the Northside Environmental Enhancement Scheme approved by Cork City Council for 2007.  Na Piarsaigh Committee members and Ladies Committee, local Councillors, school children from Scoil Iosagáin and their teachers, local Garda Síochána, members of the RAPID Area Implementation Team and City Council staff attended the presentation.

The Lord Mayor said he hoped the trees would provide enjoyment to all those who visited the Na Piarsaigh grounds

Denis O’Neill, Chairman, Na Piarsaigh H & F Club, expressed his thanks to Cork City Council; Community & Enterprise, Recreation & Amenity and RAPID in particular.  He said he was delighted to receive the trees on behalf of the Club.

The Lord Mayor was presented with a club tie to mark the occasion.

School children of Scoil Iosagáin each received a holly tree on the day to take home for Christmas.
