The Coffee Morning has become a tradition in the city and the Lady Mayoress hoped it would attract the same large numbers as previous years in aid of a very worthwhile cause.  The Lady Mayoress praised the staff of the hospice, Cork City Council, the companies and individuals who attended, those who provided food and catering services for the event and the contribution it has made to Cork families over the years:

“Marymount Hospice is a much valued institution in Cork city.  I doubt if there is anyone who does not know of a family, a friend, a neighbour or a work colleague who is not aware of the services provided there.  Whether it is the specialist palliative care provided by the hospice itself or the long stay/continuing care and respite for the older people in St Patrick’s, many, many lives are touched by the worked carried on there.”

The current fundraising initiative of the hospice is to build a 44 bed purpose built hospice which requires a target of €20 million to be met.
