Kinsale Road Interchange Scheme Upcoming Works

Traffic restrictions will be in place on the Kinsale Road Interchange Scheme from 10p.m. to 7a.m. on the nights of Tuesday 27th, Wednesday 28th, and Thursday 29th June 2006. The purpose of the restrictions is to facilitate the erection of gantry signs over the full carriageway width on both the eastbound and westbound directions.

Eastbound traffic will be affected for two nights near Pouladuff Bridge. Traffic will be directed around the works using the off and on ramps at Casey’s Cross. Westbound traffic will be affected for one night near Keary’s garage. Traffic in this area will be re-directed via the old Kinsale Road, Tramore Road and Casey’s Cross.

All diversions will be well signposted and significant traffic delays are not anticipated.

Two significant work items will also get underway on the N71 Cork/Bandon Road this week:

  • The existing mini roundabout at the Dunnes Stores entrance at Ardarostig is to be removed. Traffic lights are to be installed at this junction. The works are being carried out on behalf of Cork County Council by Colas Construction Ltd. and the existing number of traffic lanes will be maintained during daylight hours in order to minimise disruption to traffic. These works are scheduled for completion before the end of September.

  • Significant realignment works are about to get underway at the Bandon Road Roundabout. The purpose of the works is to improve traffic flow through the roundabout and the works will particularly benefit traffic coming from the Bandon direction heading east onto the South Ring Road. These works are being carried out on behalf of Cork County Council by Martin O’Callaghan Ltd. Again, the existing traffic lanes will be maintained during daylight hours in order to minimise disruption to traffic. These works are scheduled for completion before the end of July.
