New On-Line Resource for Cork’s Community & Voluntary Groups

Cork is fortunate to have a vibrant and active community and voluntary sector. These groups provide a range of services which greatly enhance the quality of life for all citizens of the City. The variety of services provided by community and voluntary groups is extensive – from sporting groups to meals on wheels, childcare services to environmental activities and residents’ associations.

Cork’s Communities” – a new section of Cork City Council’s website, now brings together information which should be of help to community and voluntary groups, and to the public at large. In addition to providing information about the Lord Mayor’s Community & Voluntary Awards and Cork City Community Forum, the website also provides access to a directory of some of the community and voluntary groups in Cork City. It includes contact details and opening hours for each group listed, as well as a brief description of what they do and a handy map showing where they are based. Users can also search the directory for groups providing particular services. Users can also benefit from free access to a database of funding opportunities for community and voluntary groups.
