Surface Water Flood Alert 30th November 2006

Surface Water Flood Alert

Met Eireann have advised this morning that rainfall accumulations of 20 to 40 mm will occur across Ireland today (Thursday 30th November 2006). The highest totals are expected in southern parts of Munster and Leinster. This will lead to an increased risk of localised flooding. Please ensure that all necessary measures are in place to deal with any flooding that may arise.

Please be advised that the ESB at the Inniscarra Dam have warned us that 50 mm of rainfall has been recorded today and the rain is still continuing. As a result they will be letting off extra water from the dam while this weather event is in progress. They will aim to time water spills to avoid high tide periods. High tides are scheduled as follows;

1. 01.33 Friday 1st Of December

2. 14.09 Friday 1st of December

3. 02.35 Saturday 2nd of December

4. 15.o6 Saturday 2nd of December

It is possible that localized flooding may occur in areas of the City. Precautionary measures should, therefore, be taken to protect property.
