Venue: Clarion Hotel, Cork
Date: 8th/9th February 2007
Despite improvements in public transport in recent years, not everyone can get around as easily as they would like. People with mobility problems, those with no access to public transport and those who travel outside rush hour often find that there is no service to meet their needs.
DRTS is a flexible transport system providing various forms of services that lie between ordinary buses and taxis. It can be used in areas where transport demand is weak in rural or periurban areas where it would not be viable to have a fixed route. The service usually operates with small size buses on flexible routes and schedules.
Cork City Council Traffic Division will host a conference on Demand Responsive Transport Systems as part of its involvement with the Mascara Project an EU funded project to examine the potential of DRTS and how they can be built into regional transport strategies.
The conference, to be launched the Minister, will address pan-European legislative, operational and technical issues and will include interactive workshops. The focus will be on problem-solving and knowledge exchange with a view to moving DRT to a higher level.
You are invited to attend this conference. Please confirm your attendance to Traffic Division Office by Friday 19th January 2007.
