National Day of Commemoration Ceremony

The National Day of Commemoration Ceremony to honour all those Irishmen and Irishwomen who died in past wars or on service with the United Nations will be held this year on Sunday, 10th July, in Fitzgerald’s Park, Cork. This is the first year that the ceremony will take place in Cork.  The ceremony will commence at 11:30 a.m.

The ceremony will commence with a multi-faith service of prayer, after which the Lord Mayor will lay a wreath on behalf of the people of Ireland.

Representatives of the Roman Catholic Church, the Church of Ireland, the Presbyterian and Methodist Churches and the Jewish Community will conduct the multi-faith commemoration. This will comprise of prayers and readings with responses by those present.

The Barrack Street Band will lead the musical element joined by soloist Ms. Majella Cullagh

The ceremony will be open to the public and persons wishing to attend should arrive at Fitzgerald’s Park before 11.00 a.m.
