Burst water main Old Youghal Road - Disruption of Water supplies Update 12.30 p.m. Monday March 28th March

Following the major break in the trunk water main at Old Youghal Road early this morning, the City Council can confirm that work is continuing on the repair of the relevant section of main with two work crews on site since early morning.

As the emergency works progress, the City Council wishes to advise the public that there will be disruption of water supplies in the area from approx. 12.30 p.m. today, Monday 28th March.  The disruption of supply will be for a number of hours, with the City Council hoping to have a full resumption of supply later today.

Properties in and around the following areas may be affected:

  • Glen Avenue
  • Arderin Way
  • Mangerton Close
  • Comeragh Park
  • Old Youghal Road
  • Gardiners Hill
  • Middle Glanmire Road
  • Murmont
  • Colmcille Ave

  • Shannon Lawn
  • Kerry Road
  • Springfield Estate
  • Silver Springs

  • CityView Mews
  • Lotamore

Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.  Every effort will be made to keep the disruption to a minimum.  Some discolouration to the water supply may occur when the water is turned back on.  This discolouration is harmless, and will clear in a short time.  Please check the clarity of the water at the kitchen tap before operating washing machines, dishwashers,  drink vending machines etc. Cork City Council regrets any inconvenience caused to consumers as a result of this work.

The traffic restrictions put in place early this morning have now been lifted, with the exception of Old Youghal Road which will remain closed for the duration of repair works.

Further updates will be issued throughout the day.
