The Lord Mayor and Cork hurlers launch Get Active Initiative

The Lord Mayor along with the Cork Hurling Team launched the Get Active Initiative on 2nd January at the Leisureworld Gym in Bishopstown. The initiative highlights the importance of physical activity.

The Lord Mayor Cllr Michael O Connell is encouraging people to become more active “ The start of a New Year provides an ideal opportunity to make small changes to our lifestyles and partake in daily exercise, whether it is  walking, jogging, dancing, active sports etc leading to a proven better quality of life for the individual. For those who wish a greater challenge, now is the time to consider entering the City Marathon being held on June 6th 2011,either as part of a team or as a solo effort, with 150 days approx remaining to the event."

The Lord Mayor paid tribute to the commitment of the hurlers, on a gym workout ,at 10 am on a Sunday morning on 2nd January during the Christmas holidays.
