Retail Strategy

Joint Retail Study 2013

In 2012, Cork County Council and Cork City Council engaged John Spain Associates, Chartered Consultants to conduct a retail study and prepare a Metropolitan Cork Joint Retail Strategy for the Metropolitan Area of Cork, including Cork city and suburbs, and the towns of Ballincollig, Blarney, Carrigaline, Carrigtwohill, Cobh, Douglas, Glanmire, Midleton, Passage West. The Metropolitan Cork Joint Retail Strategy sets out the retail hierarchy, which will form the basis for the broad quantum, location and function of retail development needs over the strategy period. Copies of the Retail Strategy and the supporting Retail Study documents are available for inspection via the Cork City and the Cork County Library Services. It is policy of Cork City Council to include the Metropolitan Cork Joint Retail Strategy in the City Development Plan with appropriate objectives that will secure its implementation.
