Established in 1887, the Cork Butter Exchange Brass and reed Band is one of the oldest bands in Cork. The band room will open for Culture Night where members will answer any questions as well as perform a recital of old classics and modern pop music.

The Cork Youth Chamber Orchestra will perform in the Lodge Room at 7pm. The Masonic Hall, the home of Freemasonry in Cork since 1845, will open its doors at 8pm with a tour of the building outlining the history of Freemasonry.

In the beautiful surroundings of the historic Port of Cork boardroom enjoy music by Irish solo artists Jessie Kennedy and Tony Davis, and stories of the river. An evening celebrating the choral foundation and historical significance of one of Cork’s landmark buildings. The event will include scheduled guided tours, the singing of Choral Evensong at 6.15pm and a short recital by the cathedral choir at 7.30pm.

Designed by Sir John Benson and built in the Early Gothic style in 1851. The stained glass windows were created by Messrs. Mayer and Co. of Munich. Information on the history of the church and its windows will be available followed by an organ recital at 8pm.

Just for Culture Night the Lee Sessions presents a packed series of traditional, vibrant and authentic trad sessions in Cork city centre, featuring masters of traditional music. From 6pm you will find music in The Rob Roy, The Gables, Charlies, Cavanagh’s and The Thomond Bar. From 7pm in Le Chateau Bar and Sin É. From 9pm in The Long Valley and from 10pm in The Corner House. All session are two hours in duration.
