Busking the Buses
Be serenaded by travelling troubadours on the free buses to venues. There will be music from all genres, jazz to folk, blues to trad, cabaret to world, gypsy to classical. See Bus Culture details for route and times.
Performers include:
- Annette Buckley combines luscious vocals with great piano playing, think Bjork fused with Billie Holiday and you get a sense of her vocal dexterity and quirkiness. Her warm vocals captivates the audience and draws them into the visual imagery of her songs.
- Stella Rodrigues is a musician and ethnomusicologist specializing in music from the Balkan, Gypsy and Klezmer traditions as well as traditional Irish music. Besides fiddling, her other musical interests involve Classical and Baroque music, and Central Javanese Gamelan.
- Ger Wolfe has established his reputation as one of our finest songwriters with the albums-“Word and Rhyme” (1998), “Ragged Ground” (2000), “Heaven Paints her Holy Mantle Blue” (2002) and “The Velvet Earth” (2006).
- Niwel Tsumbu was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo (ex Zaire) and moved to Ireland in 2004 where he quickly made friends with the Irish music scene. He began playing with many local bands and formed the groups Sumu, Jazzmu and Motema.
- Gerry Kelly, The Cork Pops Gorilla will Beat the Blues on the Culture Bus on Culture Night.
- Arron Dillon is a Cork-based songwriter and performer originally from Drogheda, Co. Louth. Arron's debut album ‘Brown Envelope’ released in May 2008 has been described as a rootsy mix of traditional and urban folk with strong melodies and thought provoking lyrics.

Culture Down
Come and enjoy tunes, artists and the passing crowd with a sundowner set on the Lapps Quay Boardwalk from 6 to 9 pm, presented with the support of 96FM.

A City of Fish
Join Meitheal Mara's Pádraig Ó Duinnín (seen on TG4's Muintir na Mara) on a walkabout associated with the places and stories of the families who fished for a living in Cork's city centre.
A City of Boats
Have you ever seen the underneath of Patrick’s Bridge from a Boat? Now is your chance, as Meithal Mara, in association with 96FM, hosts rowing exhibitions on their Bantry Longboat, Fionnbarre, rowing the north channel of the Lee, from 5pm-7pm. Tune in to 96FM for competition details.
A City of Ships
Visit the Naval Vessel LE Aishling as she is docked at the Port of Cork. Open to visitors from 5 pm to 8 pm with tours of the ship.

Join writers, musicians, artists and others as they bring you through their city of culture, showing their pathways to art. The host of your tourwill be a secret until the night itself.
- Historical City
Cllr. Kieran McCarthy will take you on an historical walking tour of the places which make Cork a city of such rich culture and tradition.
- Green City
Join our Park Rangers on tour of one of the cities best loved parks, Fitzgearld’s Park.
- Food City
Cork is a city with much of its history tied to food. Join Ireland’s leading food historian, Regina Sexton, as she takes you through the places which contribute to this rich part of our historic and contemporary city. Update: This tour is now booked out.
- Bike City
William Hammond of the Cork Folk Festival will lead cyclists through the city stopping at important historical sites and singing songs connected to the events and buildings that took place along the route. All you have to do is bring is your bike.
