The Environment Directorate is responsible for the delivery of the following services: Water, , and . Our approach to care for the Environment is based on the principle of sustainable development i.e. “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”. Cork City Council, in its role as a provider of services such as waste collection, recycling facilities, water and drainage can undertake measures to protect the environment we live in, nevertheless there is a duty on everybody to make their contribution in the area of environmental care.
The Water Services Section of the Environment Directorate provides for the monitoring, treatment and distribution of a continous and sufficient supply of pure drinking water in a sustainable manner for all domestic, commercial and industrial consumers and provides and maintains, in a sustainable manner, a drainage collection and treatment systems to meet the needs of the city.
