City and County Archives retain Book of Solidarity as important reference document

On 5th June 2009, the Book of Solidarity, which was available for signing in Cork City Council’s offices to facilitate the citizens of Cork to express their solidarity with the victims of institutional abuse, was presented Timmy O’Connor, Local Government Archivist, Cork City Council in the Lord Mayor's Chamber.

A second Book, made available for signing by the Douglas Young at Heart Seniors Community Group at Douglas Village Shopping Centre, was also presented. The Books will be retained by the City and County Archives, Seamus Murphy Building, Great William O'Brien Street, Blackpool, Cork as important reference documents. Cork City Council will be making arrangements with Right of Place, a victims advocacy group, to loan the Books of Solidarity to them for display at the organization’s premises in Cork .
