Draft South Docks Local Area Plan Public Consultation

The Vision
The South Docks area represents a major development opportunity for Cork City occupying some 190 hectares of land and 4 kms of waterfront. The vision for this area area is that of a vibrant and inclusive mixed use urban quarter for Cork which can offer inhabitants and workers a high quality of life.

The Plan
Cork City Council proposes to make a Local Area Plan, under Section 18 of the Planning & Development Act 2000, for the South Docks Area in accordance with the objectives of the Cork Docklands Development Strategy 2001 and the Cork City Development Plan 2004. The Local Area Plan will incorporate a Public Realm Strategy, an Infrastructure Strategy and a Strategic Environmental Assessment. The Plan is now available in Draft form.

Have Your Say
The public consultation period lasts for 10 weeks from 15th June until 24th August 2007. This is your opportunity to let us know your views on the vision for the future development of this important part of Cork City. Please take this opportunity to read the Plan and to have your say.

You may view the Plan:

• at a public exhibition in the Millennium Hall, City Hall, for one week from Monday 9th July - Friday 13th July between 1 p.m. and 7p.m. 
• on our website at www.corkcity.ie/docklands
• in any Cork City Council public library
• at City Hall (Docklands Directorate public counter - Floor 2)
  Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Cork City Council hopes that communities and individuals throughout the City will utilise this site to voice and convey their views on matters of interest at the local, community or city level.

To submit a consultation you must first register. To register select the “register here” link on the Home page: http://www.citizensviews.com/servlet/corkcity/Main.jsp

To view the draft:

• Select the Browse Consultations link on the Home Page.
• Under Recent Publications Select the GO button.
• You will then enter the South Docklands Local Area Plan where the Plan can be downloaded and consultations submitted.

Please note that you cannot submit a consultation until you have first registered.
